Get Ready/Part 2
As you think about all of the various things you need to do to be ready, be sure to think of the intent and purpose behind your reasoning for the photograph. Business related photography should be treated as such. If there are a few people in the photo, they should coordinate what they are wearing. From a business perspective, women should be cautious of plunging necklines and must appear professional. Remember if you are using the photos for marketing collateral and this is the "first touch" or first communication, you will leave an impression. What impression do you want to leave? After getting all the details in order, you migt want to ask a co-worker or friend what they think. Look at photos, they are all around you. This will get your thought processes going. You will start to notice which of them were successful or not.
One of the most important things to remember about having your picture taken is thinking and preparing for it before the time has arrived. If you feel ready, you will have more fun and do better in front of the camera. Part of your preparation is obvious. What am I going to wear? If you are a woman you already know that your hair and make-up must be in order. And if you are a man, you might need to shave. Other than those obvious points of interest you might think about travel time. More importantly, what part of your spirit do you want to convey to the world? This can be conveyed through clothing and props too. If you are a musician, you should bring your instrument to your session. If you love your pet, by all means bring your pet with you. In the future, you will be glad.
Give yourself plenty of time in advance to think about all of these things to allow for a smooth, enjoyable session.
